Here is the new Volkswagen GTI. In essence, it is like a sibling of the Polo GTI that is on sale abroad, but for India, VW India has decided to keep it dissociated from the Polo name from this car.
Basically, the GTI is like a 3 door Polo with a high-strung 1.8 L turbocharged petrol engine. So, you get 1273 KGs car with about 190 HP on tap.
As already said, the GTI is based on the 3 door Polo hatchback, so you can easily recognize it as the hot version of the standard Polo. Other than one key difference, there are a few more unique traits of the GTI. GTI has got a new front bumper with LED headlamps. And obviously, there is a GTI grille with the signature red stripe. In the backside, you will see a sportier bumper with a dual tip exhaust. Sadly, the standard set of alloys are similar to the 16-inches you get on the Polo GT. However, buyers can go for sportier 17 inch rims.
Just like the exterior, even the interior is almost same as the Polo. Changes you will see in GTI are: a new flat bottom steering with contrast red stitching and sportier seats and a GTI badge. Also, the space in rear seat is not as generous, but it is enough for an average India adult.
VW GTI will do the 0-100 KMPH sprint in 7.2 seconds amd can hit the highest speed of 233 KMPH. The Steering is beautifully weighted and there is quick 7-speed DSG that ensures a great driving experience. There are paddle shifters in VW GTI.
Ride quality of GTI is exceptional. VW has altered the suspension to suit Indian conditions and it is visible from the way the VW GTI rides over rough paths. Disc brakes all around keep hard braking from turning into a spine-tingling experience. 215/45 16s offer sufficient grips always and add to the GTI’s impressive ride quality.
