Toyota Kirloskar Motor, which is an Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automaker, is planning to launch a number of new cars in India. After the successful launch of the new Innova Crysta (diesel), the carmaker introduced its petrol version in August 2019 and new Fortuner in November. Other than this, Toyota will also launch the new generation model of its hybrid sedan– the Prius.

New Toyota Prius :
Expected price: Rs 40 lakh
Toyota will launch the new Toyota Prius hybrid in India in early this year. The Prius is expected to be equipped with more advanced technology, also it will be costlier than the Camry hybrid. The new Prius is 60mm longer, 15mm wider than the outgoing model, but the height of the car has been reduced by 20mm. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,700mm. It will be powered by Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive.
Expected Price Rs 7.5 lakh – Rs 10 lakh
It will be the company’s first mid-sized sedan in India. It is already running on roads of some South East Asian countries. This compact sedan will come with two power mills – a 1.5-litre, VVT-i petrol and a 1.4-litre D4-D diesel – and two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. The gasoline unit is capable of yielding 107.5bhp of power at 6, 000rpm and 141Nm of torque at 4, 200rpm.
Expected Price Rs 8 lakh-Rs 14 lakh
With Toyota Rush, Toyota India will enter the compact SUV segment. Rush is already running on the streets of some Asian countries as Daihatsu Rush. While the global model of the SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre VVT-i engine, the India-bound model might come with a 1.4-litre diesel powertrain that does duty to Corolla Altis. The car will feature projector headlamps with integrated turn indicators, large front bumper with fog lamps, pronounced wheel arches and mounted spare wheel on the tail door.
Expected Price Rs 13.50 lakh-Rs 18 lakh
The Corolla facelift will see several cosmetic upgrades along with a number of comfort and safety features. The car will also get three new exterior shades: Tokyo Red, Platinum Bronze and Earth Bronze. On the exterior, the car will get new single-slat chrome grille, small fog lamps, re-designed LED headlamps with new LED DRLs, 16-17-inch alloys, new LED tail-lamps, etc. Engine options for the new Corolla facelift will remain unchanged – i.e. 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder 2ZR-FE petrol (138bhp & 173Nm) and 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder D-4D diesel (87bhp & 205Nm). The gearbox options, too, will remain the same – 6-speed manual and an optional 7-speed Tiptronic CVT (only on the petrol variant).
Toyota Alphard Hybrid MPV:
Expected Price Rs 50 lakh to Rs 65 lakh
With all-new Alphard hybrid MPV, Toyota aims at the luxury MPV segment. This MPV is already running on the streets of a few Asian markets like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, etc. This car can easily accommodate 8 adults. This powertrain is capable of producing 157.7bhp of power at 5,700rpm and 213Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. It is coupled with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, supported by the electric four-wheel drive system.
Expected Price Rs 6 – 9 lakh
In order to make a robust presence in the mass B+ hatchback segment, Toyota is planning to launch its global car – Toyota Yaris in the Indian car market. While the petrol version is likely to be a 1.5-litre unit, the oil burner is expected to be a 1.4-litre unit that also powers the Etios range. Both manual and automatic versions of the car will be launched in the market.
