Tata Electric Nano To Be Launched As The Jayem Neo


The Tata Nano which was launched at a price of only Rs. 1 lakh has been updated many times in its short span of existence. However, sales of the Nano were not impressive as the small car failed to capitalize on the initial hype. Now, however, this situation could change after the launch of the Jayem Neo. Basically, the Neo is the electric version of the Nano that will be built and promoted by Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives.

Actually, Tata Motors and Jayem Automotive have formed a joint venture, where the Indian auto giant will supply Nano bodyshells to the electric carmaker. It is expected that the Jayem Neo or the electric Nano would be initially available to the fleet market only. PM Narendra Modi will launch the Neo at an event in Hyderabad soon.

Jayem Neo Price in India

While the company has not yet revealed anything about the price, but according to the speculations it will cost around Rs. 5 lakh. For the actual pricing we have to wait for the day of the launch. As of now, the Nano based hatchback will be the cheapest four-seater electric car in the market.

Jayem Neo Specifications

The Jayem Neo will be powered by a 48 Volt electric motor that will deliver 23 bhp of max power. The new model is expected to have a kerb weight of around 800 KG. The Neo will provide an ARAI rated range of 200 KMs with a single charge. With four passengers and air conditioning, the electric Nano will provide a range of 140 KMs.

As Tata Motors will be supplying the bodyshells of the Nano to Jayem Automotives, it is very much sure that Neo will share all its design facets with the Tata model. We might get to see some changes in the styling due to slightly different headlamps, but overall the Neo will look similar to Nano.
