SsangYong has revealed sketches of its new concept car that is expected to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The company previewed concept of a new mid-to-large size SUV which it calls the XAVL Concept.
According to the company it stands for ‘eXciting Authentic Vehicle Long SUV’ and it will be built on the chunkier, smaller XAV concept. The XAVL will be placed above the XAV and from its looks we can say that it will a 7-seater in a mid-size SUV package. This model is expected to go on sale by the end of the decade.
Looking at the images we can say that XAVL will flaunt angular and aggressive lines. The front of the car looks to be an evolution of SsangYong’s present design language and honestly it is quite amazing. As far as the interior is concerned, the manufacturer promises a ‘wide inner space with a user-friendly interface’. We can see a huge infotainment system on the center console.
According to SsangYong the XAVL will feature a range of new safety aids for drivers, passengers and pedestrians, and will be available in both diesel and petrol versions.
The car manufacturer will be using technology from within his own company, parent company Mahindra and telecommunications arms of LG, so we might get to see something new and exceptional in XAVL.
Recently, Mahindra made an announcement that Ssangyong cars might not come to India, but we wonder if that will actually be the case. Looking at the growth of the SUV segment, for sure the leading UV manufacturers in India won’t want to stay away.
