The Indian vehicle manufacturer is popular for its range of SUVs that are available in an array of sizes and shapes. One of the first-class offerings from Mahindra & Mahindra is its 2018 Mahindra XUV 500. Its new model was recently spotted testing and revealed some details of what to expect from it.
Mahindra XUV 500 was a great success and due to its limited production capacity, the MUV was initially launched in a few states and limited numbers. Despite this, there was a huge demand for the same which lead to a waiting period of around 6 months. Initially launched in 2011, the XUV 500 has seen slight makeovers but the company is working hard to bring a more refined product in 2018.
As seen in the spy images, the 2018 Mahindra XUV 500 new model will have a new grille design and even though it is difficult to see any change due to the cover-up, the rear section however looks tidier and sleeker. The test mule was running on ongoing alloy wheels and the color and brightness of the backlit console look same as the present model. The spotted vehicle sported same body, pillars, allot wheels and bumpers as the ongoing model and one can assume that the company is only testing the updated engine.
The 2018 Mahindra XUV 500 new model will be an updated version of the 2.2-litre mHawk engine that will produce 170 bhp of peak power and 400 Nm of torque. The XUV 500 will be more powerful than ever.
Mahindra will also launch a new 2.2 liter petrol engine which will be based on the same architecture to that of the diesel version and will give out 140 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. Expect the XUV 500 facelift to be launched early next year and probably at the 2018 auto expo.
The ongoing XUV 500 has starting price of INR 11.73 lakh for the W4 variant to INR 17.52 lakh for the W10 variant. In its most premium setup, the XUV 500 hosts a 2.2-litre mHawk engine that churns out 140 bhp and 330 Nm of torque and comes loaded with features unmatchable to even the vehicles of slightly higher segment.
