The much awaited Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition will be available in India in mid-August 2017. The carmaker has said that the car will be launched in mid-August, so we can expect it to be launched around the 16th of this month. With only a few days to the launch, the carmaker has said that the Rapid Monte Carlo edition will reach Skoda showrooms by September 2017. The model is already available for sale globally, but the model is coming to India for the first time. However, Indian model will be slightly different than the one available in Europe and will probably be based on the Skoda Rapid sedan which is already available in India.
The Monte Carlo edition is especially known for its unique red paint job and the stylish black treatment on the grille, alloy and rear section. The India spec Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will come with same styling treatment but will be based on the locally produced Rapid sedan. Along with the said red paint scheme, the Rapid Monte Carlo will come with fully black grille flanked by black accented projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. Also, the bumper will get the black detailing.
The India based model also gets a different set of dual five-spoke black alloy wheels with silver accents, black ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights and a black roof. There is a small black spoiler attached to the boot lid and the tail lamps also get the black treatment. Cabin will also be new with all-black treatment with contrast red stitching. Skoda has also revealed that the Rapid Monte Carlo edition will get aluminum foot pedal.
This model will also get a touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among other feature. Powertrain details haven’t been revealed yet but, we expect the car to feature both – the 103 bhp 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine and the 250 bhp 1.5 litre TDI diesel motor. While the petrol unit comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the diesel version gets the 7-speed DSG unit.
