The Czech car manufacturer Skoda had first revealed the Kodiaq at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Now according to the reports, the all new Skoda Kodiaq will be unveiled in India on 10 August. For quite some time now, Skoda dealers have also been accepting bookings for the vehicle. The Kodiaq is based on the Volkswagen’s MQB platform, which is also available in the Octavia and Superb in India.
Skoda Kodiaq is available in two diesel and one petrol engine iterations. The petrol model gets a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 177bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine in two tunes – 147bhp with 340Nm of torque and 187bhp with 400Nm of torque. The engines will be available in six-Speed Manual gearbox or DSG transmissions with six-speed or seven-speed options.
As far as the design is concerned, the Kodiaq gets 3D radiator grille, ranked highlights with full LED technology and LED tail lamps. As far as interior is concerned, you will get premium upholstery and many more features, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, engine start/stop function and electric driver seat.
Safety features include six airbags, EBD and ABS.
After launch, the Kodiaq SUV will compete against the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The Kodiaq SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
