Sources in Hyundai have given confirmation about the launch of new-gen Verna by the end of August 2017. Naturally, the new-gen Verna will be going up against the Skoda Rapid, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Homda City. Being a new-gen car, the Verna will get a number of changes both externally and internally, some of which have been inspired by the new-gen Elantra and will follow Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design theme. The new gen Verna was also seen testing in India a few months ago, confirming its launch this year.
If we talk about the interior, the new-gen Verna will have a new dashboard with new materials and have a more classy look than what is there is the present model. The top-spec variants will have features like a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with smartphone integration option. As compared to current gen Verna, the new Verna will have different look and feel. Safety features will include ABS and dual airbags as standard across the range.
Wheelbase is increased by 10 mm and the overall length by the 15 mm. The width is also increased by 29 mm. This means new Verna will be more spacious than the ongoing model on sale in India. The weight is also increased by 10 kgs.
The chassis of the new-gen Verna is also updated; it is now made of high-strength steel which makes it lighter and stronger. The suspension of the car has also got a few updates. Hyundai also claims that the overall driving dynamics of the car will be better than the current generation model.
