Lexus is one of the most popular and preferred luxury car brands of Japan; it is owned by Toyota. It is all set to finally make its official debut in India today.
Initially, Lexus will be launching 3 models in the India car market. There are likely to include the variants of the RX450h SUV, LX450d SUV and the ES300 sedan.
All of these cars will be imported to India and all the assembly will be done locally. All the models are expected to have premium prices and will be competing with car made from their European rivals. As of now, Lexus is opening 4 dealerships in India, out of which 1 will be in Bangalore, 1 in Mumbai and 2 to be opened in Delhi. However, Lexus car will only be serviced at the present Toyota dealerships.
As far as the models to be launched are concerned, the RX450h is known as the most successful models for the automaker. This model will be powered by a petrol hybrid engine. This power house is a 3.5-litre V6 VVT-I engine paired to an electric motor churning out 304Bhp of power. As far as pricing is concerned the price can go to as high as 90 lakhs. With this price tag, it will be competing with the likes of Volvo T8 Plug-in hybrid, Audi Q7 and BMW Z5.
The next product is ES300; this luxury sedan is based on the same set of ideas as that of the Toyota Camry and also uses petrol hybrid powerterrain like the other. This engine is to be a 2.4-litre VVT-I motor, mated to an electric motor churning out a total of 200Bhp of power. Price is expected to fall in the range of INR 50-60 lakh, so it is will compete against the likes of Mecedez Benz E-Class, Audi A7 and the BMW 5-Series. Also Read: Upcoming Luxury Cars In India
The last model expected to be launch is the LX450d. However, it is not yet confirmed. To be powered by a 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine producing 269Bhp along with 650Nm of peak torque. In terms of prices, it is to fall in the range of INR 1.5 crore.
