Force Motors has launched facelifted Force Gurkha EOV range in India. Two different variants are available: 3-door Xplorer and 5-door Xpedition. They are priced at Rs. 9.35 lakh and Rs. 8.38 lakh respectively. Also, some cosmetic upgrades have been made both in interior and exterior. The most important change is the new BSIV complaint engine.
Under the hood Force Gurkha 2017 facelift is same as the Mercedes IM 616- derived 2.6-litre inter-cooled engine with direct injection technology. . It can develop a top power of 85bhp at 3,200rpm and 230Nm of torque. As far as the transmission duties are concerned, the facelift version has got new G-28 5-speed all-synchromesh gearbox.
As far updates made to the exterior are concerned, this facelift version has got Mercedes G wagon-inspired design with both soft-top and hard-top roof option. Off-road capabilities have also increased with new steel bumpers with fog lamps and high water wading capability. Bumper and the front grille is also updated, headlights have additional rectangular lamps.
This facelifted Gurkha sits on a new C-in-C chassis frame, a robotic welding technique is used; according to the company it will provide excellent strength in bending and torsion. The 2017 Force Gurkha runs on steel alloy wheels fitted with 16-inch all-terrain tyres.
Cabin of this facelifted model is very much same as the old model. However, a few key differences include: revised floor console with cubby holes, gear knob and 4 spoke steering wheel. For the first time, there is an HVAC unit in the vehicle. While the 3-door version is based on 2,650mm of wheelbase, the 5-door version comes with 2,750mm wheelbase.
