Audi has just unveiled the R8 Spyder in the most potent Plus guise. The R8 Spyder Plus will be the faster convertible to come from Ingolstadt. Audi says, “The R8 Spyder V10 Plus completes the R8 model line.”
The R8 Spyder V10 Plus will be powered by the Audi’s most powerful series-production engine, i.e. 5.2-litre V10 powerplant. The power bump of 70bhp over the standard Spyder brings the total to 602bhp while the 560Nm of raw torque is attainable at 6,500rpm. All the power is sent to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The Spyder Plus has capability to accelerate to 100kmph from standstill in mere 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 328 kmph. The Plus treatment has helped the car shed 25 kgs of weight over the standard Spyder. It weighs 1.587 kg thanks to the use of exotic materials like carbon-fibre reinforced plastics and aluminium components.
Same as the Coupe Plus, the Spyder got large carbon fibre front splitters with a gloss black grille. The massive diffuser at the back is capable of generating 100kg of downforce. There’s a carbon fibre lip spoiler as well, while black chrome 19-inch lightweight aluminium wheels come as standard fitment.
V10 Spyder has also got new Micrommata Green body paint, along with 11 other paint schemes with matte-effect too. The soft-top is available in three colours. The other exterior bits of the Plus treatment are finished in anthracite black. The cabin gets Nappa leather upholstery with bucket seats as standard. Audi’s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit is also part of the package with Audi Drive Select.
Prices for the Audi R8 V10 Spyder Plus start from €207,500 (€17,000 premium over the regular R8 V10 Spyder) in Germany.
